ABOUT THE COURSE:This course on Indian Economic Development has been envisaged as a multi-disciplinary course aimed at providing an overview of the history and sectoral characteristics of our economy. This 12 week course which is made up of 12 modules covers various aspects of the economic fallout of British rule, the emergence of planning in our country and the evolving characteristics of agriculture, industry, and services sector. It also includes an intensive discussion of the social sector policies in India as well as their efficacy. Every effort has been made to include the current debates around the sectoral patterns of the Indian economy. This course will prove useful for UG Students from the Social Sciences stream studying the paper of Indian Economy at a formal level, PG Students who want to refresh the basic concepts of Indian Economy, and students from any other discipline under NEP 2020, who want to learn about Indian Economic Development as a Multi- Disciplinary course.
