Syllabus

  • Business model transformation
    • This week, the module delves into business model transformation. It covers the definition and elements of business models, including the good and bad aspects, and provides a case study for reflection. The module also explores innovative business models, such as disruption, click-and-collect, non-ownership models, and crowdsourcing. Additionally, the CANVAS model is explained and applied, with a focus on its usefulness and disadvantages. By the end of the week, you should be able to understand and analyse different business models and their transformations.
  • Innovation, organisational learning, and co-creation of capabilities
    • This week, the module delves into innovation, organisational learning, and co-creation of capabilities. It covers organisational learning theories, including Senge’s learning organisation, and explores the learning process and learning channels. The module also examines explicit vs. tacit knowledge and the role of managers in supporting learning. By the end of the week, you will be able to understand and apply organisational learning concepts, analyse different types of knowledge, and design training activities to encourage knowledge transfer within an organisation.
  • Internationalisation strategies
    • This week, the module delves into internationalisation strategies. It covers the international strategy framework, including drivers of internationalisation and the differences between international and global strategies. The module also examines Porter’s Diamond Model, global sourcing, and various international strategies such as export, multi-domestic, global, and trans-national strategies. Additionally, it explores market selection and the PESTEL framework. By the end of the week, you will be able to understand and apply internationalisation strategies and analyse global market dynamics.
