This course offers a comprehensive introduction to Mechatronics, an interdisciplinary field that integrates mechanical engineering, electronics, sensors, microprocessors, control systems, and computing to create intelligent and automated systems. A major emphasis is placed on Robotics, a key subdomain of Mechatronics, which applies these integrated principles to develop autonomous and semi-autonomous machines for industrial and service applications. The course aims to foster an interdisciplinary culture, enabling learners to appreciate how diverse engineering domains converge in modern automation. The curriculum covers measurement systems, transducers, actuation mechanisms, PLC-based automation, robotic drive systems, end effectors, robotic sensors, machine vision, and robot kinematics and programming.Through systematic explanations and practical relevance, students will develop a strong conceptual foundation and understand how mechatronic and robotic technologies are used in machining, welding, assembly, material handling, and smart manufacturing. By the end of the course, learners will be well-prepared to engage with industry-driven innovations in intelligent systems and automation.
