The history of Modern American covers important events in American history from reconstruction of the American South 1877 to the contemporary times from a political, social, economic and cultural standpoint. This course will enable the students to explore some of the key moments or developments after the American Civil War as how America reconstructed its society, polity and economy, internally and transformed its international relations from one of the British colonies to a superpower status, taking decisive roles in the World wars and politics, till the contemporary times.
