Course Topics

Students will learn the topics below for the duration of 14 weeks.

  1. Introduction to finite element modelling
  2. Finite element modelling of complicated shape structures
  3. Static analysis of structures
  4. Natural frequency analysis and dynamic loading
  5. Heat transfer analysis and heat-deformation coupled analysis
  6. Non-linear analysis in contact problems

Assessment

  1. Weekly Report Quizzes
  2. Assignments
  3. Final Examination

Certificate

By the end of this 14-week course, students who successfully complete the course and meet the passing grade criteria will receive a Certificate of Completion with international recognition from Open Learning.

Students from Public Class (free), if you satisfy the requirements, you are also entitled to get a certificate of completion. The issuance of the certificate will be arranged after you pay the certificate fee as much as MYR 100.

Class Registration

Students from Universiti Muhammadiyah Malaysia (UMAM) and Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) should follow institutional registration system and should be able to obtain the access code from your academic office. You have to join a private class (the access code will be provided by your institution).

Students from other universities please join the Public Class, no access code required. This course is free for everyone who would like to learn, but if you need the certificate, you need to pay and only issued if the final scores is not less than 75. This is self-paced. The duration of the course depends on your pace. If you can learn fast, you can complete the course faster than others.

Another thing, if you pass this course, you can get course exemption ofDinamika dan Desain Rangka Kendaraanin Master (S2) Teknik Mesin, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta, Indonesia.

Syllabus

  • Develop finite element models related to vehicle structures.
  • Prepare finite element model for analysis purpose related to static, dynamics, heat transfer and coupling heat to static analysis.
  • Analyze structure deformation of structure under static loading.
  • Analyze vibration mode shape and corresponding natural frequencies.
  • Analyze heat distribution of structure under thermal loading and coupled to static deformation.
  • Propose nonlinear analysis of structure under contact problems.
