This educational workshop introduces students to the significant national importance of wines from the Pacific Northwest region and examines the critical geological features that define this area. The course then explores the rich history of Oregon wine production, the state's rigorous wine-labeling requirements and regulations, as well as the geographic characteristics, climate patterns, and principal grape varieties that thrive there.
Following this foundation, we take an in-depth look at the captivating appellations found throughout Southern Oregon. This stunning region features a distinctive climate with nearly continental characteristics, and it has emerged as a center for innovative biodynamic viticulture practices and produces outstanding examples of Rhone-style wines and Spanish varieties.
