Regulatory Requirements and Mandatory Training:
Local Law 196 establishes mandatory safety training requirements for all workers and supervisors at construction sites that have designated construction superintendents, site safety coordinators, or site safety managers. Under this regulation, all workers must complete a minimum of 40 hours of qualifying safety training by September 1, 2020, in order to obtain a Site Safety Training (SST) card. Supervisors must accumulate 62 hours of approved training by June 1, 2019, to obtain a Supervisor SST card. This course provides awareness-level instruction focused on hazard recognition and understanding.
8-Hour Fall Prevention Course:
Falls remain the leading cause of workplace fatalities in the construction industry. This intensive 8-hour training program teaches construction workers essential skills for recognizing fall hazards and implementing prevention strategies on active job sites. Participants gain practical knowledge to protect themselves and their coworkers from fall-related injuries.
Fall Prevention Learning Outcomes:
- Identify fall hazards and understand terminology specific to fall situations in construction environments
- Become familiar with OSHA standards, DOB regulations, and other applicable rules governing fall prevention requirements
- Understand employer responsibilities for providing worker protection systems and fall prevention equipment
