This Supported Scaffold User Training online course provides a thorough introduction to the safe use of supported scaffolds in construction environments. The course covers the essential elements of supported scaffold safety, including scaffold types and components, the most common hazards associated with supported scaffolds, and an emphasis on hazard recognition, fall protection, scaffold inspection, and appropriate emergency response.
4 Hour Supported Scaffold: Training Requirements:
Local Law 52 of 2005 requires that all workers using supported scaffolds on construction sites in New York City complete this training and obtain their 4 Hour Scaffold Card. This training must be renewed every four years to maintain compliance.
OSHA Training NYC Requirement (Local Law 196):
Local Law 196 introduced expanded training requirements for construction and demolition workers in all five boroughs. Workers are required to complete a minimum of 30 hours of approved training, and supervisors must complete a minimum of 62 hours. In addition to the required training hours, workers and supervisors must obtain the appropriate Site Safety Training (SST) card to demonstrate compliance.
As of June 1, 2019, workers must complete a total of 40 hours of training, including the 8-Hour Fall Prevention course and the 2-Hour Drug and Alcohol Awareness course. Supervisors must complete a total of 60 hours, which includes the 4 Hour Supported Scaffold User and Refresher class as one of the required components.
