Examine the transformation of management education through critical perspectives, research methodologies, and institutional change. This course investigates the evolving paradigms, accreditation standards, and interdisciplinary approaches shaping the future of responsible management learning. This course provides an in-depth analysis of the institutionalization of responsible management education, including the influence of accreditations, rankings, and hidden curricula. Learners will engage with critical and pragmatic research paradigms, explore methods for responsible research, and consider the importance of interdisciplinarity in addressing complex management challenges. The course prepares learners to critically assess and contribute to the ongoing evolution of responsible management education in academic and professional settings. Drawing on critical inquiry, research reviews, and systems thinking, this course encourages learners to challenge conventional paradigms and envision new possibilities for management education. Learners will synthesize diverse perspectives to inform their own research and educational practices. This course is part three of a three-course Specialization designed to build a complete and cohesive understanding of the subject. While it offers valuable skills on its own, you'll gain the most benefit by progressing through all three courses as a structured learning journey. Reimagining Management Academics: The Emerging Responsible Management Education Paradigm
- This module explores the limitations of traditional management education and introduces the concept of responsible management education (RMLE). Learners will examine new paradigms for ethical leadership and the evolving roles of management academics in driving social change.
Critical Perspectives on (and in) Responsible Management Education: The PRME Imaginary
- This module explores the limitations of the PRME initiative in fostering transformative management education and examines the need for new, disruptive imaginaries. It covers critical theories, discourse analysis, and the role of agency in shaping responsible management education. Learners will gain an understanding of how educational frameworks influence ethical and inclusive practices.
The Institutionalization of Responsible Management Education
- This module explores how responsible management education (RME) is adopted and implemented in business schools, focusing on the forces that drive institutional change, the role of key actors, and the challenges of meaningful implementation versus symbolic compliance. Learners will gain insights into institutional theory and its application to educational practices.
Responsibility in Business School Accreditations and Rankings
- This module explores how business school accreditations and rankings shape institutional behavior and integrate responsible management learning (RMLE). It covers the influence of isomorphism, decoupling, and stakeholder pressures on academic strategies. The Hidden Curriculum: Can the Concept Support Responsible Management Learning?

Responsible Research in Business and Management: Transforming Doctoral Education
