Deliver inclusive, informed legal service to LGBTQIA+ clients and build a welcoming firm. This course equips legal professionals to serve LGBTQIA+ clients competently and inclusively. You'll build shared vocabulary and understanding, review the federal and state laws that affect LGBTQIA+ rights (including how they vary across jurisdictions), and learn strategies to identify and counter bias in client interactions. Practical guidance covers creating inclusive firm policies and practices and building an LGBTQIA+-friendly firm culture and online presence.

Syllabus

Module 1 - Strategies for LGBTQIA+ Representation and Inclusive Client Service in Law Firms
- This module connects the lesson topics to practical professional scenarios. By the end of the module, learners will be prepared to: Apply the principles of introduction: strategies for lgbtqia+ representation and inclusive client service in professional practice; Apply the principles of why lgbtqia+? more letters, more inclusivity in professional practice; Evaluate scenarios involving the topics in Module 1.
Module 2 - Strategies for LGBTQIA+ Representation and Inclusive Client Service in Law Firms
- This module connects the lesson topics to practical professional scenarios. By the end of the module, learners will be prepared to: Apply the principles of federal laws affecting lgbtqia+ rights; state laws vary - red versus blue in professional practice; Apply the principles of strategies for identifying and combatting bias in client interactions in professional practice; Evaluate scenarios involving the topics in Module 2.
Module 3 - Strategies for LGBTQIA+ Representation and Inclusive Client Service in Law Firms
- This module connects the lesson topics to practical professional scenarios. By the end of the module, learners will be prepared to: Apply the principles of creating inclusive law firm policies and practices: essential guidelines in professional practice; Apply the principles of tactics to create an lgbtqia+ friendly firm and online presence in professional practice; Evaluate scenarios involving the topics in Module 3.
Module 4 - Strategies for LGBTQIA+ Representation and Inclusive Client Service in Law Firms
- This module connects the lesson topics to practical professional scenarios. By the end of the module, learners will be prepared to: Apply the principles of audience questions and closing remarks in professional practice; Evaluate scenarios involving the topics in Module 4.
