Additional resources provide guidance on employer and employee responsibilities, reporting procedures, and available legal resources. This course includes a variety of instructional strategies to support effective learning. The course culminates in a final comprehensive quiz that reinforces key concepts and assesses your readiness to recognize, prevent, and respond to workplace sexual harassment. Syllabus

  • Module 1: Understanding Sexual Harassment
    • In this module, you will extend your knowledge and understanding of sexual harassment in the workplace. The module will cover the significance of addressing workplace harassment and key legal protections against it. You will learn about the four types of behavior that may constitute sexual harassment: verbal, non-verbal, physical, and visual. By the end of this module, you will be familiar with two types of sexual harassment: quid pro quo and hostile work environment.
  • Module 2: Recognizing Workplace and State-Specific Laws
    • In this module, you will enhance your understanding of workplace sexual harassment by recognizing important federal and state laws that protect employees. The module will cover key legal protections, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and examine how employers can create a safe work environment by complying with these regulations. You will also learn about the scope of workplace sexual harassment, covering various situations where it can occur, and the range of individuals protected under the law. Additionally, you will learn state-specific laws from California, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Maine and New York, and compare these to Title VII, highlighting key legal differences and protections. IMPORTANT: In this module, please select and complete the lesson that pertains to the state in which you currently reside. If you reside in a state not specifically listed below, you may proceed directly to the last lesson of the module, titled 'Module Review and Assessment'.
  • Module 3: Responsibilities and Prevention Strategies
    • A workplace should be a safe and respectful environment where everyone feels valued and protected. However, when harassment occurs, it is essential to respond appropriately and take the proper steps. This module explores workplace harassment prevention, the importance of clear policies, and each employee’s role in fostering a culture of respect and accountability. Through real-world scenarios, learners will understand how to recognize, report, and prevent harassment, ensuring a safe and inclusive work environment.
  • Module 4: Assessment and Certification
    • This final module provides learners with the opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of the course material through a comprehensive assessment. The assessment is designed to evaluate the knowledge acquired throughout the course, ensuring alignment with the defined learning objectives. Upon successful completion, learners will receive a certificate of achievement.
