In this course, you will build foundational English skills through case-based units about technology, an art museum, and the airport. You will practice vocabulary connected to each setting, then use listening and reading investigations to answer comprehension questions from the case materials. Grammar practice focuses on giving instructions, creating positive and negative sentences with the be verb, using there is and there are, and forming questions with the be verb. Speaking and writing evidence tasks help you apply the language from each unit in context. Each unit also includes vocabulary practice, grammar practice, a quiz, an exit ticket, and closing activities so you can review what you have learned. By the end of the course, you will have practiced simple English for technology topics, cultural places, and airport situations while strengthening listening, reading, speaking, writing, vocabulary, and grammar skills.

Syllabus

  • Technology
    • This module uses a technology-themed case to build foundational language skills. Learners practice technology vocabulary, complete listening and reading investigations, and apply grammar for giving instructions. Speaking and writing evidence tasks help learners use the unit language before completing the unit quiz, exit ticket, and closing activities.
  • Visit to the Art Museum
    • This module focuses on an art museum case that supports vocabulary, comprehension, and basic grammar practice. Learners work with art museum vocabulary, complete listening and reading investigations, and practice positive and negative sentences with the “be” verb. Speaking and writing tasks give learners opportunities to apply the language from the unit before the quiz and closing activities.
  • At the Airport
    • This module places learners in an airport-themed case where they practice vocabulary, reading, listening, and grammar. Learners use airport language while working through reading and listening investigations and grammar activities focused on “there is/there are” and questions with the “be” verb. Writing and speaking evidence tasks help learners apply the unit language in context before the quiz and closing report.
