This course introduces the foundational concepts and processes that support effective talent acquisition and onboarding. You will examine how organizations create and post open positions by applying employment requirements, job classifications, and standardized documentation that promote consistency and compliance throughout the hiring process. The course covers recruiting sources, methods, and metrics used to attract and evaluate candidates, as well as the role of applicant tracking systems and employer branding in supporting organized and compliant recruiting practices. It also addresses structured interviewing and candidate selection processes designed to promote fairness, reduce bias, and support informed hiring decisions. By the end of this course, you will be able to: ● Describe employment requirements, job classifications, and documentation for open positions ● Identify recruiting sources, methods, and metrics used to evaluate candidates ● Explain how applicant tracking systems and employer branding support recruiting ● Describe structured interviewing, selection, and onboarding practices

Syllabus

  • Foundations of Recruitment Compliance and Job Design
    • In your first week, you will describe employment and authorization requirements, differentiate job types for proper classification, and identify the key components of an effective job posting. You will also explain how to work with recruiters and summarize record-keeping requirements for candidate data.
  • Sourcing and Attracting Talent
    • This week, you will classify candidate sources, select appropriate recruitment methods, and describe how applicant tracking systems manage candidate data. You will also define guidelines for job advertising and identify key metrics for evaluating recruiting effectiveness.
  • Interviewing and Selection Techniques
    • This week, you will identify the components of a structured interview guide, describe fair and unbiased interviewing techniques, and define methods for evaluating candidates. You will also outline key pre-employment checks and describe documents used to communicate hiring decisions.
  • Orientation and Onboarding
    • For your final week, you will identify key elements of effective onboarding, describe how to communicate company culture and values, and outline essential onboarding activities. You will also use feedback methods to support new hires and define required onboarding documentation.
