In this workshop, you'll develop a thorough understanding of French wine labeling systems and their connection to European Union regulations. This foundation will prepare you for a deeper exploration of Bordeaux wines, one of the world's most prestigious wine regions.
The course takes a comprehensive approach to Bordeaux wines, examining them from their terroir upward. You'll learn how the combination of soil composition, grape varieties, and traditional winemaking methods work together to create Bordeaux's distinctive character. Explore the region's unique terroirs to better understand how blending works, discover the long evolution of the region's wine styles over centuries, and examine recent innovations in blends and production approaches that are shaping modern Bordeaux.
This in-depth study covers Bordeaux's history, geography, and climate, with particular attention to how these factors influence the wine styles produced there. You'll taste and evaluate a range of Bordeaux offerings, from dry white wines to complex dry reds and rich, sweet dessert wines that have earned the region its reputation for producing some of the world's most age-worthy wines.
