This 8-hour Site Safety Manager Refresher course is designed for professionals seeking to renew their credentials in site safety management, site safety coordination, or construction superintendent roles within New York City. The course serves as an advanced update to the comprehensive 40-hour Site Safety Manager course and the 8-hour Site Safety Coordinator course, providing thorough instruction in Chapter 33 of the New York City Building Code and applicable municipal regulations that protect public safety.
Participants will develop practical knowledge of safe work practices specific to the urban construction environment, learn to recognize hazards inherent to New York City construction sites, and master the specialized methodologies and protocols required for effective safety management on complex urban projects. Successful completion of this refresher is a mandatory requirement for all professionals renewing their Site Safety Manager, Site Safety Coordinator, or Construction Superintendent designation with the New York City Department of Buildings. Upon completion, all participants receive an official certificate of completion.
Important note regarding licensing: Please consult the New York City Department of Buildings official checklist to verify that you have compiled all necessary documentation prior to submitting your license application. This course provides only the completion certificate required for your DOB application; the course provider does not issue the actual license itself. The Department of Buildings manages all registration and application processing following your course completion.
Prerequisites: Prospective students must be able to communicate effectively with the instructor in the language in which the course is conducted. Additionally, you must have successfully completed an initial Site Safety Manager course within the previous three years. This refresher course is specifically intended for continuing education and cannot serve as an initial course. Students must provide proof of completion of an initial course (either the 40-hour Site Safety Manager or 8-hour Site Safety Coordinator) by submitting a copy of the corresponding certificate via email or in person before enrolling in this refresher.

Requirements for Successful Completion: In order to earn your certificate upon finishing the 8-hour Site Safety Manager Refresher course, you must satisfy all of the following requirements:
- Maintain clear communication with the instructor and complete all required documentation in the language the course is delivered in. Personal interpreters are not permitted.
- Complete all mandatory paperwork, including registration forms, course evaluations, attendance records, and other documentation
- Attend the complete course duration. Any required makeup sessions must be scheduled and completed within six months of your initial start date
- Engage actively in classroom discussions, group activities, and review sessions
- Achieve a minimum passing score of 70 percent on all course assessments
