This comprehensive course covers the New York City Chapter 33 and municipal regulations that govern public safety during construction activities. The course provides essential training for major construction projects regulated by the NYC Department of Buildings, with an emphasis on protecting the public, adjacent properties, and workers on site in accordance with OSHA requirements. This course is a prerequisite for the Site Safety Manager Certificate Examination and is also required for the Site Safety Coordinator and Construction Superintendent Certification in New York City.
The course aims to equip participants with knowledge of the NYC Department of Buildings code requirements and city regulations to ensure a safe work environment for pedestrians, adjacent buildings, and construction workers both on and around construction sites.
Audience: This course is required for those applying for Site Safety Manager, Site Safety Coordinator, and Construction Superintendent positions with the NYC Department of Buildings.
Prerequisites: Students must be able to communicate clearly with the instructor in the language the course is delivered. No other prerequisites apply, though applicants for NYC Department of Buildings licensing must meet all specified requirements for test and license issuance.
Materials: Pens, instruction booklets, tests, videos, PowerPoint presentations, instructor evaluation sheets, and attendance sign-in sheets.

- Detail fire safety rules specific to construction sites
- Explain the NYC Department of Buildings Chapter 33 regarding safeguards during construction and demolition
- Outline the NYC Department of Transportation rules and permit requirements

Successful Completion Requirements:
To receive a certificate or card for the 40 Hour Site Safety Manager course, students must meet all of the following conditions:
- Communicate clearly with the instructor and complete all paperwork in the language the course is delivered. Personal interpreters are not permitted.
- Complete all required paperwork, including registration, evaluation, and attendance documentation
- Attend all required course hours. Any makeup sessions must be completed within six months of the course start date.
- Participate actively in class activities and reviews
- Achieve a passing grade of 70% or higher on all course tests
No exceptions will be made to these requirements. Partial credit is not awarded for any course component.
Students may bring personal lunches. Coffee and tea are provided in all classrooms.
