Burns are a serious injury requiring immediate attention. Classification of burns assists in their treatment. Minor burns are treated on the shop floor with First Aid kits, while more serious burns will require medical assistance. This course deals with treating burns and helps to determine conditions that require medical assistance. Students will understand how to classify burns as first second or third degree. Students will know how to treat first-degree burns, and what to do as First Aid for second and third-degree burns. Students will learn what NOT to do in treating second and third-degree burns. Students will learn the differences between chemical and electrical burns, and their critical aftereffects. Students will know when to send for professional medical treatment.
