This is a foundational course that introduces students to the fundamentals of writing and disseminating questionnaires. It will provide a clear understanding of what a questionnaire is and the benefits of using this method, as well as considerations when designing questionnaires, and tips for locating respondents and improving response rates.

  • Is a Questionnaire Right for My Project?
    • This module explores the role of questionnaires in the research process and helps you determine when they are an appropriate data collection method. You will examine the strengths and limitations of questionnaires, consider how different audiences may engage with them, and learn how to select suitable delivery and response methods to support effective and accessible data collection.
  • How Do I Draft a Questionnaire?
    • This module focuses on designing effective questionnaire questions and selecting the most appropriate question types for your research goals. You will learn about the range of question formats available, when and why to use them, and how different question types can be combined to create clear, reliable, and well-structured questionnaires.
  • How Do I Find Respondents and Test My Questionnaire?
    • This module focuses on preparing your questionnaire for use in a real research project. You will learn how to test and refine questionnaire drafts, identify and recruit suitable respondents, and develop effective strategies for inviting participation, ensuring your questionnaire is well designed and ready for data collection.
  • How Can I Handle Questionnaire Data?
    • This module explores the final stages of questionnaire-based research, from collecting responses to preparing data for analysis. You will learn how to maximize response rates, plan and manage questionnaire activities effectively, prepare collected data for analysis, and assess data quality to ensure your research findings are reliable and robust.
