Syllabus

  • Deploying Cisco Centralized Wireless Networks
    • As you are reading this, it is likely that you are connected to a wireless network. And if that is true, then you are in the perfect place to start learning about how to deploy centralized wireless networks. Wireless is a technology that continues to blossom, and as a network engineer, it is your responsibility to develop a subject matter expertise on Cisco Centralized Wireless deployment. You will start your learning process with an overview of how to initialize your Cisco Wireless LAN Controller (WLC) and how to handle your WLC through CLI and GUI interfaces. The overview is followed by a discussion on how access points discover and join wireless controllers, and an elaboration on controller high-availability and redundancy methods to assure scalability and network continuity. You will also explore different concepts regarding ports and interfaces, which is crucial for you to broaden your wireless network knowledge. Start your journey now and you will soon be able to deploy a Cisco Centralized Wireless Network like an expert!
  • Configuring Cisco Centralized Wireless Networks
    • The main benefit of using wireless is that users can move around the campus without any interruptions, so understanding mobility and roaming is crucial to make this possible. However, for wireless network to provide the best user experience, it is also important that you are familiar with wireless network optimization methods to improve your wireless network performance. Start your journey now and you will soon be able to configure a Cisco Centralized Wireless Network like an expert!
  • Maintaining and Troubleshooting Cisco Wireless Networks
    • Once you have your wireless network running, you need to keep it running with regular maintenance—just like your car. So, how can you check that you have all the licenses in place and that you are using the correct licensing model from your wireless network? You should be familiar with Cisco licensing for the wireless solutions and stay in compliance with your purchased licenses. For example, you should be able to easily add, remove, or renew licenses in your environment. Newer versions of the controller and access point (AP) software are released at regular intervals, so how can you update images on devices in your wireless network? These software updates can include an entire image, a patch fix, or a security resolution to a released image. So, which Cisco update actions should perform? By understanding the various upgrade options, you can keep your network up to date with the latest software images and benefit from regular updates. During maintenance, you should also be able to back up and restore the configuration, so you can be confident that your wireless network will be always up and running, providing connectivity to your clients. In addition, when something goes wrong in your wireless network, you need to be able to perform basic troubleshooting. The troubleshooting process can be a complex activity, so which methodology should you adopt as a guide through the process, and which troubleshooting techniques might be most efficient in your environment? Even more, which troubleshooting tools can you use in the wireless environment, which is different from the wired environment? Knowing the basic troubleshooting steps and techniques can help you use the appropriate ones when facing certain issues in your environment, while being familiar with the Cisco WLAN and third-party troubleshooting tools can help you be effective in your root-cause analysis and problem-solving tasks. It is a lot to cover, so this course describes the maintenance details and provides troubleshooting insights so you can decrease downtime and issues in your wireless network, for improved client experience.
  • Managing and Monitoring Cisco Wireless Networks with Cisco DNA Center
    • The networking landscape is changing rapidly. A dynamic, hyperconnected world is the new normal. The massive proliferation of networked devices creates new challenges for modern networks. In the past, businesses dealt only with a single computer per employee. Today each employee has multiple devices that require access to the corporate network from anywhere at any time. This massive proliferation of networked devices produces new network requirements. The one thing that all users demand is access anytime, anywhere, to all the resources that they require, which is a serious challenge. The fact that user locations can be mobile makes this networking landscape even more difficult. How can you help ensure that the right people and devices are connecting to the right resources in a dynamically changing environment? Cisco Digital Network Architecture (DNA) provides a complete intent-based networking system that is constantly learning and adapting and using contextual insights to make sure that the network continuously responds to dynamic IT and business needs. Cisco DNA Center is the command-and-control center for campus networks that supports management and monitoring of traditional enterprise networks and software-defined networks (SDNs) through intent-based networking (IBN) and automation. You will get familiar with how Cisco DNA Center works, its typical automation and assurance use cases, with focus on wireless networks.
