By completing this course, you’ll gain a comprehensive understanding of Cisco’s wireless LAN (WLAN) architectures and the best practices for their implementation. You’ll learn how to configure both LAN and WLAN components to support modern wireless deployments, including providing secure guest access. What makes this course unique is its practical, step-by-step approach—breaking down complex concepts and guiding you through real-world scenarios involving Cisco DNA Center, Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), and Cisco Spaces. You’ll discover how to evaluate deployment options, select the right hardware and software, and understand how each component interacts within the network. The course addresses common challenges, such as anticipating network load, integrating with existing infrastructure, and designing for both indoor and outdoor environments. By exploring a range of deployment scenarios and protocols, you’ll be empowered to make confident decisions in building robust Cisco enterprise wireless networks. With this knowledge, you’ll be well-prepared to design, implement, and manage scalable wireless solutions that keep pace with today’s technology trends.

Syllabus

  • Cisco Wireless Network Architecture
    • The network architecture that you deploy can determine whether your installation is successful. Cisco has multiple options for wireless engineers to choose from. To deploy a wireless network that can keep track with all the recent trends and challenges, it is important you are able to distinguish between these architectures and the platforms that they support. By going through this course, you will understand the wireless network deployment options and building blocks, including Cisco DNA Center, Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), and Cisco Spaces that build the next generation wireless stack. It is a lot to learn; however, this course takes it one step at a time and provides you with the tools that you will need to successfully implement a Cisco wireless network.
  • Implementing Cisco Wireless Network
    • When you design a network, there are many things to consider, such as the different hardware and software options available. The wide variety of choices can be slightly overwhelming unless you are familiar with how each interacts with the others to produce the desired results. It is important to know what choices you have, what each product does, and how each product relates to and works with one another. What is the anticipated network load going to be? Is this site a new or existing deployment? Will most users be indoors or outdoors? There are so many things to think about and so many choices to make. By investigating the different options and having prior knowledge of their capabilities, you can narrow down the list to make your selection job a lot easier. But even before device selection, you need to understand how Cisco enterprise wireless networks work, what kind of deployment options they offer, and which protocols those network devices are using to communicate.
  • Implementing Cisco Wireless Network Wired Support
    • Where should you connect your access points to, what kind of switches should you use, and how do you configure them to support your wireless network? In addition, how do you leverage Power-Over-Ethernet to power access points, and how much bandwidth should you reserve on your distribution layers for traffic originating from the wireless network? Are there any networking protocols that can help you drive a wireless network? When you are designing a wireless network, you must realize that wireless is just one of the methods for accessing the enterprise network. Therefore, it is crucial for you to understand exactly how the wireless network components integrate within the rest of your network.
