In this course, you will explore the full employee lifecycle, from managing transitions and setting behavioral expectations to implementing performance management systems and driving meaningful engagement. You will examine how HR professionals use coaching, surveys, and feedback tools to build accountability, support growth, and strengthen workplace culture. This course gives you practical strategies to improve the employee experience and connect people practices to organizational outcomes. By the end of this course, you will be able to: Describe HR's role in managing the employee lifecycle, including termination approaches and legal considerations for defensible separation decisions Explain how human relations concepts, behavioral expectations, and inclusivity strategies shape organizational culture and employee accountability Explain how performance management systems, evaluation methods, and performance tools align employee behavior with organizational goals Describe how engagement tools, surveys, and coaching techniques support meaningful feedback and employee growth

Syllabus

  • Employee Lifecycle Management
    • In your first module, you will describe how organizations assess functional effectiveness throughout the employee lifecycle and the role HR plays in managing employee transitions. You will also examine termination approaches, just cause considerations, and legal requirements that support fair, compliant, and defensible separation decisions.
  • Workplace Values and Culture
    • In this module, you will examine how human relations concepts and leadership practices influence organizational culture and employee behavior. You will also describe how organizations establish behavioral expectations, evaluate organizational values, and promote inclusivity to strengthen engagement, accountability, and a positive workplace culture.
  • Performance Management
    • In this module, you will explore how organizations implement and evaluate performance management systems that support employee and organizational success. You will examine the performance management process and evaluation methods used to align employee performance with organizational goals, and identify performance management tools used to address employee behavior and performance concerns.
  • Driving and Sustaining Employee Engagement
    • In your final module, you will investigate how organizations use engagement tools, including surveys, focus groups, and stay interviews, to gather meaningful employee feedback. You will also examine how engagement surveys are designed, administered, and managed to generate actionable insights, and describe coaching and mentoring techniques that support employee growth and performance improvement.
