Syllabus

  • Recognizing Workplace Emotions
    • You can't manage what you can't name. This module introduces the four common workplace emotions (frustration, anxiety, motivation, and satisfaction) and teaches you the foundational ‘Pause-Name-Respond' technique that transforms reactive moments into intentional responses.
  • The Pause-Name-Reframe Technique
    • Walking into a tough conversation unprepared is like walking in unarmed. This module builds on foundational emotion recognition to teach the advanced ‘Pause-Name-Reframe' technique, a pre-conversation ritual that transforms anxiety into readiness.
  • Building a Reflective EI Practice
    • Emotional intelligence doesn't grow on autopilot. It requires intentional reflection. This module establishes a sustainable weekly practice for examining your emotional responses, tracking your progress, and continuously developing the EI skills that distinguish great HR leaders.
  • Empathy in 1-on-1 Conversations
    • Jumping to solutions before acknowledging feelings is the fastest way to lose trust. This module teaches the Feel-Need-Request framework for demonstrating genuine empathy in 1-on-1 conversations, and how to make it feel natural, not scripted.
  • Facilitating Team Empathy Circles
    • Teams that share struggles together solve problems together. This module teaches you to design and facilitate empathy-circle exercises that build genuine connection and psychological safety, transforming colleagues into allies.
  • Building a Weekly Empathy Journaling Practice
    • What gets reflected on gets improved. This module establishes a sustainable weekly journaling practice to track empathy-driven interactions and their ripple effects on team harmony, turning good intentions into measurable growth.
  • Delivering Feedback with SBI
    • Vague feedback changes nothing; specific feedback changes everything. This module introduces the Situation-Behavior-Impact framework for structuring feedback that's clear, actionable, and based on what you've directly observed, not assumptions or hearsay.
  • Improving Through Feedback Surveys
    • How you think your feedback lands and how it actually lands are rarely the same. This module teaches you to gather data on your feedback effectiveness using post-conversation surveys, closing the gap between intention and impact.
  • Conducting GROW Micro-Coaching Sessions
    • Great coaches don't give answers. They ask better questions. This module introduces the GROW coaching framework and teaches you to conduct focused 15-minute coaching sessions that help employees discover their own solutions.
  • Evaluating Coaching Effectiveness
    • Assuming your coaching works isn't the same as knowing it works. This module teaches you to systematically evaluate your coaching effectiveness through brief polls, revealing blind spots before they become patterns.
  • Understanding SMART Goals
    • Goals that can't be measured can't be achieved, at least not on purpose. This module introduces the SMART goal framework and teaches you to analyze goals for the specificity, measurability, and time-boundedness that transform wishes into outcomes.
  • Documenting Goals in the HRIS
    • If it's not in the system, it didn't happen, and at review time, that matters. This module teaches you to enter and manage SMART goals in the HRIS Performance module, creating the documentation trail that protects both managers and employees.
  • Building a Recognition Culture with Wins Wednesday
    • Recognition costs nothing but changes everything. This module teaches you to establish a weekly recognition ritual using Teams and how to track its impact on engagement through Viva Pulse metrics that prove recognition isn't just feel-good, it's good business.
  • Launching Viva Pulse Surveys
    • Annual surveys deliver stale data about problems that festered for months. This module teaches you to design and launch a Viva Pulse survey program that provides real-time engagement insights, catching issues while they're still fixable.
  • Analyzing Feedback and Driving Improvement
    • Data without action is just noise, and employees notice when nothing changes. This module teaches you to interpret Viva Pulse results, identify actionable insights, and create after-action reports that close the loop between feedback and improvement.
  • Employee Engagement Initiative
    • In this project, learners integrate all skills from Long Course 3 by designing a comprehensive employee engagement initiative. This portfolio-ready deliverable demonstrates your ability to apply emotional intelligence, facilitate development conversations, and build engagement programs with measurable outcomes.
