This course is primarily aimed at managers and leaders who want to build their resilience and manage stress more effectively in the workplace. The emotional resilience of those involved in a work setting will contribute significantly to the organisation's success.  Almost all of us work in a business environment that is constantly changing, is intense and is unrelenting. With so many challenges and changes to deal with in both life and the workplace, it’s vital to understand how emotions relate to unfamiliar and unpredictable situations and to how they contribute to resilience.  Emotional resilience can mean managing the emotions that you experience or managing the emotions of those around you.  This course will help you to understand more about the role of emotions in stress management so that you can weather storms in the workplace. The course will help you change the way you think about yourself and the way you approach potentially challenging situations. You will learn how to develop your emotional resilience and use this skill at work.  As a manager and leader, you can find out how you can develop resilience within the hearts and minds of your team and your organisation. By completing this course, you will be able to - Discover how you use your emotions to develop your capability to manage your resilience - Determine ways to cope with the emotions associated with change and unfamiliar or unpredictable circumstances - Recognise how realistic optimism helps you to manage stress more effectively - Explore action strategies to develop your personal resilience and the resilience of others - Outline how to develop resilience in others at a personal, team, and organisational level

Syllabus

  • Introduction to Emotional Resilience for Managers
    • Welcome to the course "Introduction to Emotional Resilience for Managers"! In this course, you'll learn how to manage stress and weather storms in the workplace with good emotional awareness. With so many challenges and changes to deal with in both your personal life and in the workplace, it’s vital to understand how emotions relate to unfamiliar and unpredictable situations and to how they contribute to resilience. The first lesson introduces and welcomes you to the course, gives an overview of the learning outcomes of the course and defines resilience. In the second lesson lesson, you'll be able to assess your resilience and learn all about coping, working with stress and your resilience.
  • The Characteristics and Behaviours of Resilience
    • This module explores the characteristics and the behaviours associated with resilience. The first lesson you will learn about how you react to situations through your mindset and your thinking, the effect on your energy levels, and how your body reacts physiologically. The next lesson investigates your behaviour, such as your levels of perfectionism and optimism, and how this can influence your resilience. We then explore some behaviours that will help to develop your resilience.
  • From Setback to Comeback
    • This module will take you through change so that you can move effectively from a setback to a comeback. We explore the emotional pathway everyone goes through when experiencing change with some hints and tips around working through every phase. The second lesson covers eight core strategies for working with change that will help to develop your resilience.
  • Resilience in Organisations
    • This module investigates resilience in the workplace to consider resilience in teams and in organisations. The first lesson helps you to identify what a resilient team looks like and how you can build resilience in your team as a manager. The second lesson investigates organisational resilience and ways to build a resilient organisation.
  • Concluding the Course
    • The final module of the course reviews your learning. You get the opportunity to review the objectives that you set yourself at the start of the course along with the reasons that you identified for taking the course.
