Syllabus

  • Welcome
  • Facilitating
    • Welcome to Becoming an Agile Coach! In this course, we'll explore the multifaceted role of an agile coach and the various stances you'll adopt to empower organizations and drive successful agile adoptions. Our first module focuses on the art of facilitation, a crucial skill for any agile coach. We'll explore the core principles of facilitation and how they empower teams to collaborate, communicate effectively, and make collective decisions. You'll join me, Maeve, as I guide a team at Breezy Apparel through their agile transformation. We'll navigate the challenges and opportunities together, learning how to foster a safe and productive environment where everyone feels empowered to contribute and achieve amazing results. This course was created with Subject Matter Experts, Anu Smalley (CST®, CEC) and Lucy O'Keefe (CST®, CTC).
  • Teaching
    • Welcome to Teaching, module two of Becoming an Agile Coach, where Maeve, our agile coach, teaches the Breezy Apparel team about agile and the scrum framework. Can she help guide the team to achieve victory after a devastating production run? In this module, Maeve advises, facilitates, teaches, mentors, and coaches the Breezy Apparel team through scrum events and agile transformation.
  • Mentoring
    • After the first practice sprint, Bree has a breakthrough realization that Maeve won’t be the agile coach for Breezy Apparel forever. Maeve is working wonders within the organization, but what’s going to happen when her time at Breezy Apparel is up? Bree needs someone to take on the accountability of being a scrum master and coaching the organization through its agile adoption once Maeve leaves. Bree knows her time with Maeve is limited and needs to ask one of her team members if they’d like to take on this accountability so Maeve can mentor them and teach them everything she knows. After all, Maeve is a great agile coach, so it makes sense to learn from the best! In this module, you'll learn impactful characteristics of a mentor and view the beginning of a successful mentoring relationship at Breezy Apparel.
  • Advising
    • Welcome to Becoming an Agile Coach: Advising. In this module, our agile coach, Maeve, advises Breezy Apparel through a particularly challenging moment early in its agile adoption. You’ll explore the advising mindset, how to share ideas, patterns, and stories, and get a better sense for how a successful coach uses their emotional and social intelligence to become a trusted advisor.
  • Leading
    • Welcome to Becoming an Agile Coach: Leading, where you’ll follow Coach Maeve as she leads the Breezy Apparel team through agile evolution. In this module, you will discover how an agile coach helps others craft a shared vision, leads by example, fosters an environment of continuous learning, and leads growth by modeling agile principles and values in everything she does.
  • Coaching
    • Welcome to Becoming an Agile Coach: Coaching. At Breezy Apparel, change is in the air. As the team explores new ways to reach customers and streamline their workflow, conflicts and challenges naturally arise. Isaiah, brimming with enthusiasm for the potential of TikTok shops, finds himself at odds with Pam, the sales manager, who remains skeptical. Enter Maeve. Her mission? To guide Isaiah in navigating this conflict, fostering collaboration, and ultimately achieving a win-win solution. In this module, you'll gain valuable insights into the role of an agile coach in fostering collaboration and navigating conflicts. You'll learn how to define coaching and its potential impact, cultivate a coaching mindset, and identify the essential skills used in coaching conversations. Finally, you'll explore the nuances of coaching teams versus individuals, equipping you with the knowledge and skills to empower both individuals and groups to achieve their full potential in an agile environment.
