via CourseHorse

Overview

The WSET Level 3 Award in Spirits represents an advanced professional qualification for those seeking comprehensive knowledge of global spirits and the sensory evaluation skills needed to confidently assess and articulate spirit characteristics. This certification builds directly on the foundation established in Level 2, enabling learners to develop a nuanced understanding of spirit production from raw material processing through post-distillation refinement. Upon completion, participants will confidently explain the production methods, visual appearance, flavor profiles, and quality distinctions across diverse spirit categories.

This rigorous program combines hands-on tastings with detailed theoretical study to provide mastery of spirit production techniques. Students explore how raw materials are processed, how fermentation and distillation transform those materials, and how finishing operations shape the final product. Participants gain the ability to apply the WSET Level 3 Systematic Approach to Tasting Spirits (SAT) to analyze and describe spirits with professional precision.
