This qualification is ideal for those who need basic familiarity with the main styles and categories of sake, such as professionals working with sake as part of a broader beverage portfolio in retail and hospitality sectors. Successful candidates will be able to list principal sake categories, state their defining characteristics, and understand key storage and service principles. This knowledge enables professionals to answer customer questions and provide informed recommendations for sake service.

Learning Outcomes:

Upon completion, students will list and explain the purpose of main ingredients and production steps used in making sake; name principal categories, grades, and specialty styles of sake along with their key characteristics; and understand the processes and principles involved in sake storage and service.

Course Structure and Exam:

The course consists of a 4-week, 7-module online learning program where modules are designed to be completed in order, though students may work through them at their own pace. The course material typically requires approximately 6 hours to complete, plus additional time for revision. Regular participation in online activities is essential for success in this study mode. The assessment includes a 30-question multiple-choice exam with a required score of 70 percent or higher to pass. Registration must be completed 10 days prior to the start date.
