Discover the exceptional wines and hidden treasures from the world's most extensive vineyard region. Spanish wine has emerged as a dynamic and increasingly important force in the global wine market, with Spain ranking among the top three wine-producing nations worldwide. While prestigious regions like Rioja, Priorat, and Ribera del Duero receive well-deserved recognition, this course introduces you to Spain's diverse wine landscape and helps you identify both famous bottles and undiscovered gems from lesser-known regions.
Course Philosophy and Approach:
For those pursuing formal credential recognition, the Spanish Wine Scholar certification program offers comprehensive, in-depth study. However, this Intro to Spanish Wines seminar welcomes all participants seeking to expand their wine knowledge and appreciation. Together, we will explore Spain's top wine-producing regions and their designated appellations, discovering the characteristics that make Spanish wines distinctive and compelling.
Tasting Experience:
This seminar includes structured tasting of six carefully selected Spanish wines. As you taste each wine, the instructor will present information about the grape varieties used, the winemaking styles employed, and the remarkable diversity found within Spain's greatest wine-producing regions. This experiential learning approach deepens your understanding and appreciation of Spanish wine characteristics.
