Learn and discover how lower ambient temperature patterns and cool climate conditions influence the development of grapes and the resulting wine styles produced from some of the most well-known and respected wine regions in the world. Understanding the relationship between climate and wine quality is essential for any wine enthusiast.
Join us in an exciting exploration of cool climate wines from around the globe. We will unravel the mysteries and complexities of the European Union wine labeling scheme and compare it systematically with wine labeling and classification systems from the rest of the world. We will examine and analyze global patterns and trends as we take a comprehensive tour around the world by glass, tasting wines from diverse regions. Take in the highlights of crisp, refreshing wines from cool climate regions including Germany, Austria, Northern Italy, Northern France, Oregon, and New Zealand, each with unique characteristics shaped by their specific terroir and climate.
The guided and educational tasting experience will feature 6 to 8 carefully selected wines and will focus on New World wines versus Old World wines comparison and analysis. You will taste examples of important cool climate wine grape varieties such as Chenin Blanc, Pinot Gris, Riesling, and Sauvignon Blanc, learning how each variety expresses itself in different climate conditions.
