Broaden your beverage skills with a deep dive into coffee, tea and water. This class also includes 2 practice blind wines in preparation for the Somm Essentials Exam.
Let's explore the history and growing regions of the world for both coffee and tea then delve into the cultivation of each, the roasting of coffee and the drying of tea. Different plant varieties and styles of both are covered in detail. Environmental issues, service, and flavor profiles of both are also discussed.
For bottled water we look at the sources, labeling, and differences in mineral content and its impact on the wines we might be drinking alongside our water.
We'll also learn about the structure and trends of the beverage industry and its segments and discover recent changes in consumer tastes and buying habits.
When class is held in-person we taste the 5 major categories of tea. Both in-class or online receive 2 practice wines for those preparing for the Somm Essentials tasting exam and it's a bonus for others.
