Discover the signs of emotional immaturity in adults and understand the underlying causes of arrested emotional development that lead to defensive reactions when reasonable requests are made. Explore practical strategies for adjusting expectations in challenging relationships, particularly with emotionally unavailable parents and family members. Master Jess Miller's CLEAR method (Communicate value, Limit or boundary, Explain benefit, Assurance, Repeat boundary) for effectively setting boundaries without feeling guilty or manipulated. Examine real-world scenarios including handling emotional manipulation, recognizing when to walk away from toxic relationships, and understanding the therapist's perspective on going no contact with family members. Gain insights into managing emotionally draining people while fostering your own emotional growth and maintaining healthier relationships. Address complex family dynamics including reconciliation after estrangement and learn to hold boundaries without guilt through actionable techniques and personal examples shared by both therapists.

I watched a video on setting boundaries with emotionally immature people using the CLEAR method, and it was actually really practical. Instead of just saying “set boundaries,” it explains how to do it in a calm, clear, and consistent way.

What I liked most is that it focuses on controlling your response rather than trying to change the other person, which is more realistic. It’s simple, but not necessarily easy to apply in real situations.

Overall, it’s helpful if you struggle with feeling drained or disrespected in certain relationships and want a more structured way to handle it.
