Guided by the country’s new demands for talents, this course aims to cultivate students’ core abilities to accomplish various workplace tasks in English. Based on real-world workplace scenarios and activities, it adheres to the “production-oriented” teaching approach and integrates the “experiential” teaching philosophy. This course integrates language, thinking and culture, and incorporates the cultivation of comprehensive abilities such as language proficiency, communication skills, critical thinking, cross-cultural understanding and expression, problem analysis and solving, collaboration, and learning abilities, all of which are essential for using English in workplace situations. Through scientific teaching processes and activity design, this course employs various teaching methods including interactive lecturing, project-based teaching, case study and group discussion to help students familiarize themselves with the use of English in different work scenarios. In the process of understanding workplace situations and completing workplace tasks, such as hosting discussions, writing business emails, analyzing customer feedback, reading and writing industry report, writing meeting minute and so on, students will gradually develop and enhance their relevant workplace abilities, so as to lay a solid foundation for their rapid integration into an international work environment in the future.
