The course consists of three modules. On successful completion you will be able to:

  • Describe ‘typical’ ageing and how this might differ to MS related disease processes
  • Understand how other medical conditions and medications affect MS symptoms, and decide if a review of the medicines you take is needed
  • Describe why keeping engaged mentally is important, and develop strategies to keep the brain active
  • Understand personal coping strategies and make a plan to maintain healthy coping strategies
  • Discuss what resilience is and how to build it
  • Discuss simple tips for managing work, and how best to manage the transition away from work
  • Develop a plan for simple lifestyle changes to plan for the future
  • Understand what community services might be of use
  • Discuss what is valued if moving into residential care is required

  • It was great to learn something new. I'm not a nursing professional, just a layperson. The training and modules were clear and understandable. Thank you.

I am 76 years old, diagnosed two years ago. I very much appreciate that I had the opportunity to complete this course, which in some way confirmed what I have found coming to MS late! If however, I was 20 years younger, I would be making sure this course was on my agenda. It explains so well what can be expected from MS as we age from all points of view, from ageing generally with MS and Neurological ageing; managing work life and retirement; life expectancy, comorbidities, menopause, and if required, transitioning to a residential care facility. I thoroughly endorse this course and thankful that it is provided in such a clear and succinct way.

I had been wanting to complete this course for some time, but continued to put it off. once I got started I thoroughly enjoyed this it asked some questions which were difficult and certainly challenging. it was very interesting to see where I appear to be on Track with regards suggestions to living better as I age. and I learned some new strategies which I will follow in future especially exercising my brain and keeping on exercising physically.

I very much enjoyed this course. My son in law has just been diagnosed, out of the blue, with MS. I am trying to understand what the consequences might be. I look forward to the Understand MS starting in July 2026 for a deeper understanding.

It's a very interesting and knowledgeable course I took. Made me understand so many complexities I face whenever I study these topics. I also helped myself to understand and have a clear vision regarding so many other conditions. Would recommend to everyone who is related to the medical field and has someone in the family with MS.

This course brings good information, good teaching, and dynamic development of activities that are extremely engaging. I had a terrific time taking this course. The content was well-structured and separated into small pieces, making it perfect for my schedule. The combination of digital resources and video lessons made it easy to learn tough concepts. I now have a lot more confidence in my capacity to deal with the things I review and learn from, not only the greatest professional sources but also people who are living with the condition. I highly suggest this course.

I like this course. It helps to understand ageing well with MS, at same time to learn English through online studies. As one of a professional carer, keeping learning and applying knowledges through my workplace and back to my home country, it helps me to understand clients and my sister's situation better. I would apply effective care for people living ageing well with MS.
