Economic geography studies spatial distribution and organization of economic activities, that is, how production, distribution and consumption patterns are arranged across the world. It is one of the branches of human geography where physical environment, human environment and human activities are studied together. It includes how people earn their living and how resources are utilised according to their needs.
The study of various human activities such as agriculture, trade, transportation or other services with specific geographic location forms the core of Economic Geography. It gives us better idea on why minerals are region specific, why industries grow in specific regions, why specific trade routes emerge, and how nature of environment influences human being’s economic choices.
