Resource geography is an important branch of economic geography that studies the spatial distribution of natural and human resources, their utlisation, economic activities and the factors associated with it. A deeper insight into the distribution, appraisal, production, and consumption of resources produced by the people living in different areas of the world and its impact upon the environment is absolutely necessary in understanding contemporary socio-economic, environmental issues. Today resource geography is a very quantitative as well as qualitative field that focuses on the distribution of economy, environmental research and regional and global development. This course seeks to give students an insight into the challenges and opportunities of resource utlisation on economic growth, development and sustainable environmental management.
