This course trains diabetes care providers to understand the bidirectional relationship between diabetes and oral health. It covers common oral conditions, risk factors and barriers to care, oral health screening, and referral to dental services.

Identify common oral health conditions, particularly conditions that may occur frequently among people with diabetes
Understand the bi-directional link between oral health conditions and diabetes
Have an increased awareness of the impact of oral health problems on diabetes management

Recognise additional factors that predispose oral health problems
Recognise barriers to oral health care
Identify the role of Diabetes Care Providers in oral health care
Understand the influences that diabetes (including blood glucose management) can have on a person's oral health
Identify common oral health conditions, particularly conditions that may occur frequently among people living with diabetes
Have the knowledge and screening skills to undertake oral health screenings on people with diabetes and refer appropriately to dental services.
