This third course in the project management specialization introduces the principles and practices of Agile project management, with a focus on how teams and organizations deliver value in dynamic environments. Learners will explore how Agile differs from traditional project management approaches and learn how to apply Agile methods to improve planning, execution, and outcomes. Learners will be able to apply Agile practices, evaluate organizational effectiveness, and demonstrate leadership approaches that support successful project delivery. This course can be taken for academic credit as part of CU Boulder’s Master of Engineering in Engineering Management (ME-EM) degree offered on the Coursera platform. The ME-EM is designed to help engineers, scientists, and technical professionals move into leadership and management roles in the engineering and technical sectors. With performance-based admissions and no traditional application process, the ME-EM is ideal for individuals with a broad range of undergraduate education and/or professional experience. Syllabus

  • Agile Project Management
    • Welcome to the course, Agile Project Management. In this first module, you will be introduced to Agile project management as an adaptive approach for working in environments characterized by uncertainty and change. You'll explore how Agile differs from traditional predictive methods, examine the values and principles that guide Agile decision-making, and be introduced to common Agile frameworks such as Scrum and Kanban.
  • The Agile Process and Team Execution
    • In this module, you will explore how Agile teams plan, execute, and improve their work. You will learn about the key elements of the Scrum process, including sprint planning, daily coordination, and end-of-sprint feedback. You will also examine the tools teams use to make better decisions and how they provide visibility into progress.
  • The Agile Organization
    • In this final module, you will explore what it takes to operate as an Agile organization. You will examine how strategy, structure, and leadership influence performance and execution. You will learn how to prioritize work in dynamic environments, design teams for efficiency, and apply servant leadership to support distributed or remote Agile teams.
