Required for all employees. Initial and annual training in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.157. Employers shall provide an educational program to familiarize employees with the general principals of fire extinguisher use and the hazards involved with incipient stage of fire fighting. Fire fighting equipment such as portable fire extinguishers shall be maintained and inspected at least monthly. The extinguishers must be mounted and readily accessible. By the end of this course, an employee will know which type of fire extinguisher to use, proper use and extinguishing practices, safe distances, and determining if he/she shall fight the fire or exit the area.
