Electrostatic discharge is dangerous to electronic components, rather than people. The cost of repairing ESD-damaged components is high due to the troubleshooting timing required to isolate damaged components. ESD safety discusses the containment of static electricity, avoidance techniques, and recognition of potentially unsafe conditions. Students will understand how electrostatic discharge occurs and how to prevent ESD damage. Students will understand the consequences of unsafe ESD work habits. Students will be able to assess common work practices forimproving ESD unsafe conditions and protecting sensitive electronic components.
