Traditional instruction often places the teacher at the center of learning, but today's learners benefit from approaches that promote agency, curiosity, and authentic engagement. In this course, you'll explore the foundations of learner-centered teaching and examine instructional approaches that empower learners to take an active role in their own learning. Through practical examples, case studies, and emerging teaching frameworks, you'll investigate learner-centered teaching, compare learning paradigms such as pedagogy, andragogy, and heutagogy, and explore project-based, inquiry-based, place-based, and land-based learning. By the end of the course, you'll be able to recognize the characteristics of high-quality learner-centered learning experiences and identify strategies for applying these approaches in your own educational context.
