This course introduces the technical and operational components of people analytics. You'll learn how HRIS systems store workforce data, how to retrieve and prepare datasets, and how to manage analytics initiatives. You'll explore how employee lifecycle data is captured in HR systems and practice generating workforce reports. The course then covers retrieving data from common formats such as CSV files and preparing it for analysis. You'll also learn project planning concepts including milestones, dependencies, and risk management.   • Leverage HRIS Data: Understanding HRIS Data Foundations
    • In this module, you'll apply your understanding of why HRIS data quality matters and what happens when lifecycle data is captured incorrectly. Through a discovery role play, you'll uncover knowledge gaps, then build foundational understanding of how an HRIS captures, stores, and updates employee data from hire to exit.
  • Leverage HRIS Data: From Records to Reports
    • In this module, you'll move from data entry to generating actionable reports. You'll apply techniques to run a headcount-by-department report, export results to CSV, and document your findings using AI-assisted communication—while verifying that AI outputs accurately reflect your actual data.
  • Retrieve & Prep Data
    • Your CSV import failed. The columns are wrong. Dates look like numbers. Sound familiar? You'll use your knowledge of the two data formats that power people analytics—CSV files and SQL tables—and apply that understanding to prevent downstream disasters. You'll practice importing CSV files into Excel with the right delimiter, encoding, and type-detection settings, so your data loads correctly the first time. You'll then analyze your imported data using a systematic cleaning checklist to identify hidden columns, verify row counts against the source, and save validated files. Using AI tools like ChatGPT, you'll document your cleaning steps and practice verifying that AI-generated summaries match your actual data.
