Securing AWS Cloud Solutions is designed to help learners build a strong understanding of AWS security services and the architectural considerations involved in protecting identities, applications, infrastructure, data, and cloud resources. The course introduces AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM), AWS IAM Identity Center, AWS Key Management Service (KMS), AWS Directory Service, Amazon Cognito, AWS Secrets Manager, AWS WAF, AWS Shield, Amazon GuardDuty, Amazon Inspector, Amazon Macie, AWS Resource Access Manager, and AWS Certificate Manager. The course is divided into four modules, with each module further segmented into lessons and video lectures. Learners will explore both conceptual and practical aspects of AWS security, including IAM users, groups, policies, roles, and MFA; identity federation and access management; encryption and secrets management; application and infrastructure protection; threat detection and vulnerability assessment; sensitive data discovery; resource sharing; and security certificates. Hands-on demonstrations are included for several services to help learners understand how AWS security capabilities can be applied in practical cloud environments. Course Modules Module 1: AWS Identity and Access Management Module 2: AWS Identity, Encryption, and Secrets Management Module 3: AWS Application and Infrastructure Protection Module 4: Data Protection, Resource Sharing, and Certificates By the end of this course, a learner will be able to: Understand AWS IAM users, groups, policies, roles, MFA, and IAM Identity Center for managing access to AWS resources. Explain AWS encryption, identity, and credential management capabilities using AWS KMS, Directory Service, Amazon Cognito, and AWS Secrets Manager. Understand AWS security services such as AWS WAF, AWS Shield, Amazon GuardDuty, and Amazon Inspector for protecting applications and infrastructure. Understand Amazon Macie, AWS Resource Access Manager, and AWS Certificate Manager for data protection, resource sharing, and certificate management. Apply AWS security services and practices to help protect identities, data, applications, and cloud resources. This course is intended for learners who want to build practical knowledge of AWS security services and develop the skills required to understand and implement security controls for cloud environments. Basic familiarity with AWS Cloud and cloud computing concepts is recommended.

Syllabus

  • AWS Identity and Access Management
    • In this section, you'll build a strong foundation in AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM), learning how to manage identities, permissions, and secure access to AWS resources. You'll begin by exploring IAM users, groups, policies, and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). As you progress, you'll gain practical experience creating and managing IAM users and groups, configuring policies, and working with IAM roles through guided demonstrations. The section further introduces AWS IAM Identity Center and its role in providing centralized access to multiple AWS accounts and applications. Through a practical demonstration, you'll learn how to manage user access efficiently. By the end of this section, you'll have a solid understanding of AWS IAM and Identity Center, enabling you to securely manage identities, permissions, and access across AWS environments.
  • AWS Identity, Encryption, and Secrets Management
    • In this section, you'll explore AWS services for securing identities, protecting data, and managing sensitive credentials. You'll begin by understanding AWS Key Management Service (KMS) and its key features for creating and managing encryption keys. As you progress, you'll explore AWS Directory Service and Amazon Cognito, learning how they support directory management, authentication, and identity management for applications and users. The section further introduces AWS Secrets Manager and its role in securely storing, managing, and retrieving sensitive credentials. Through a guided demonstration, you'll gain practical experience working with secrets. By the end of this section, you'll have a solid understanding of AWS KMS, Directory Service, Cognito, and Secrets Manager, enabling you to secure identities, encryption keys, and application credentials effectively.
  • AWS Application and Infrastructure Protection
    • In this section, you'll explore AWS security services designed to protect applications and infrastructure from common threats. You'll begin by understanding AWS WAF and AWS Shield and how they help protect applications from web-based attacks and DDoS threats. As you progress, you'll explore Amazon GuardDuty, learning how it continuously monitors AWS environments to detect suspicious activity and potential security threats. Through a guided demonstration, you'll gain practical experience with threat detection. The section further introduces Amazon Inspector, helping you understand how it identifies security vulnerabilities in workloads. Through a practical demonstration, you'll learn how to assess and improve the security of AWS resources. By the end of this section, you'll have a solid understanding of AWS WAF, Shield, GuardDuty, and Inspector, enabling you to strengthen application and infrastructure security on AWS.
  • Data Protection, Resource Sharing, and Certificates
    • In this section, you'll explore AWS services for data discovery, resource sharing, and security certificates. You'll begin by understanding Amazon Macie and how it helps discover and protect sensitive data stored in Amazon S3. As you progress, you'll gain hands-on experience creating and running Macie jobs and reviewing findings to identify potential data security risks. The section further introduces AWS Resource Access Manager (RAM) and AWS Certificate Manager (ACM), helping you understand how to securely share AWS resources and manage certificates for applications and services. By the end of this section, you'll have a solid understanding of Macie, AWS RAM, and ACM, enabling you to discover sensitive data, share resources securely, and manage certificates effectively.
