By completing this introductory course, you will be able to evaluate your personal leadership potential, practice people-centered leadership, and use the Situation-Behavior-Impact (SBI) framework to deliver constructive feedback. Designed for aspiring and emerging leaders, this course bridges leadership theory with highly practical, real-world application. Led by Brad Smith, President of Marshall University and former Silicon Valley CEO, you will discover how to transition from managing performance to coaching potential, moving your teams from 'me' to 'we' to achieve shared objectives.

Syllabus

  • Introduction
    • Welcome to the course! This module introduces the core definition of leadership as the ability to inspire others to achieve shared objectives. You will also explore the foundational leadership framework based on the Five P's: Potential, Purpose, People, Playbook, and Pay-It-Forward.
  • Potential
    • This module focuses on the first principle of leadership: Potential. Learn to transition from a judging mindset to a coaching mindset, understand the conditions of servant leadership and psychological safety that make coaching possible, and explore the Situation-Behavior-Impact (SBI) framework for delivering constructive feedback.
