The course also covers VLAN creation, trunking, spanning tree protocol, and link aggregation, providing a comprehensive introduction to switching fundamentals. By the end, you will be able to confidently configure and manage foundational Cisco network environments. This course uses a practical, step-by-step approach with real-world Cisco configuration examples and guided walkthroughs. Learners will progress from basic device setup to advanced service configuration, building a solid base for further networking studies. Syllabus

Introduction
- This module provides an overview of the course structure and objectives, helping learners understand the hands-on Cisco lab environment they will engage with throughout the course. It sets the foundation for practical skills development in network configuration and troubleshooting.
Download and Install Cisco Packet Tracer
- This module introduces learners to Cisco Packet Tracer, covering its purpose, installation, configuration, and basic interface navigation. It equips students with the foundational skills needed to set up and use the tool for network simulation and practical learning.
Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)
- This module explores the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and its essential role in network automation. Learners will gain practical skills in configuring DHCP clients, servers, and relays, while also understanding key concepts like static vs. dynamic IP assignment and multi-VLAN support.
Domain Name System (DNS)
- This module covers the fundamentals of the Domain Name System (DNS), including its role in translating domain names to IP addresses, setting up DNS resolution within a LAN, and configuring DNS on Cisco routers. Learners will gain practical skills in DNS configuration and troubleshooting within network environments.
Network Device Firmware
- This module covers the fundamentals of network device firmware, including its role in performance, the importance of updates, and the processes for upgrading Cisco routers and switches. Learners will gain practical knowledge on how to maintain and secure network devices through firmware management.
AAA (Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting)
- This module explores the fundamental concepts of AAA (Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting) and their role in securing network access. Learners will gain hands-on experience in configuring AAA on network devices and understand how to implement secure remote access using SSH. The module emphasizes best practices for centralized management and auditing in network environments.
Network Services and Device Monitoring
- This module explores essential network services such as Syslog, NTP, SNMP, and NetFlow, focusing on their roles in monitoring, troubleshooting, and managing network devices. Learners will gain hands-on knowledge of configuring these protocols to ensure reliable network performance and accurate data collection.
Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN)
- This module covers the fundamentals of Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), including their role in network segmentation, configuration of access and trunk ports, and implementation of InterVLAN routing. Learners will gain hands-on experience through practical labs and reinforce their understanding with a knowledge check.
Spanning Tree Protocol (STP)
- This module explores the fundamentals of Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) and its advanced variant, Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP). Learners will gain hands-on experience in configuring STP to prevent network loops and optimize network performance in Layer 2 environments.
Link Aggregation / Port Channels / EtherChannels
- This module explores the concept of link aggregation using port-channels, EtherChannels, and their role in enhancing network performance and reliability. Learners will gain hands-on experience configuring these technologies on Cisco switches and understand how they contribute to network redundancy and high availability.
