Advance your Cisco networking skills by mastering routing protocols, redundancy solutions, and network address translation. This course covers static and dynamic routing, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, NAT, and essential redundancy protocols for robust network design. This course delves into the core of Cisco routing, starting with static and default routing before progressing to advanced dynamic protocols such as EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP. You will explore the configuration and optimization of these protocols, including route summarization, authentication, and metric adjustments. The course also covers network address translation (NAT), hot standby router protocol (HSRP), and introduces key concepts in network controller licensing and troubleshooting. By completing this course, you will be equipped to design, configure, and troubleshoot resilient Cisco networks using industry-standard routing and redundancy techniques. Learners will follow a structured, hands-on approach with detailed configuration walkthroughs and troubleshooting scenarios. The course emphasizes practical application of routing and redundancy concepts in real-world Cisco environments. This course is part two of a three-course Specialization designed to build a complete and cohesive understanding of the subject. While it offers valuable skills on its own, you'll gain the most benefit by progressing through all three courses as a structured learning journey. This course is based on Cisco Networking Mastery - Practical Routing and Switching Labs, by Dan Mill. This course is licensed and distributed by Packt. All rights reserved. Syllabus

  • Static and Default Routing
    • This module introduces the fundamental concepts of static and default routing, including their implementation, configuration, and use cases in network communication. Learners will gain hands-on experience with setting up routes and understanding how they influence traffic flow. The content also covers the advantages and limitations of each routing method.
  • Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP)
    • This module explores the configuration, optimization, and security of the Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP). Learners will gain hands-on experience with EIGRP setup, metric tuning, authentication, and advanced features such as route summarization and static neighbor configurations. The module emphasizes practical skills for managing dynamic routing in enterprise networks.
  • Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) Routing Protocol
    • This module explores the fundamentals of the Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) routing protocol, including its role in link-state routing, configuration on Cisco routers, and its impact on network design and performance. Learners will gain practical skills in setting up OSPF and understanding its key features.
  • Network Address Translation (NAT)
    • This module provides a comprehensive overview of Network Address Translation (NAT) and Port Address Translation (PAT), covering their roles in managing IP address allocation, configuring routers for public and private network access, and understanding security implications. Learners will gain practical skills in implementing and troubleshooting NAT and PAT in real-world scenarios.
  • Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP)
    • This module teaches how to implement HSRP to ensure network redundancy and high availability. Learners will explore the protocol's role in gateway failover and configure it on Cisco routers. The content also covers best practices for maintaining reliable network operations.
  • Border Gateway Protocol (BGP)
    • This module provides an in-depth exploration of the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), including its role in inter-domain routing, key configuration techniques, and practical applications in network design. Learners will gain hands-on experience with eBGP and iBGP configurations and learn how to manage routing tables and traffic filtering.
  • Cisco Network Controller Licensing
    • This module covers essential Cisco network controller licensing strategies, AAA authentication protocols like TACACS+ and RADIUS, and the configuration of LLDP for device discovery. Learners will gain practical skills in implementing secure network access and managing network devices effectively.
  • How to Troubleshoot Network Issues
    • This module focuses on developing essential troubleshooting skills for network issues, covering structured problem-solving approaches, real-world lab scenarios, and practical application of diagnostic techniques. Learners will gain hands-on experience with troubleshooting methods and improve their ability to identify and resolve network problems efficiently.
  • Cisco Modeling Labs Introduction and Basics
    • This module introduces learners to Cisco Modeling Labs, a powerful tool for simulating and testing network environments. It covers setup procedures, device configuration, resource monitoring, and lab management. Learners will gain hands-on skills to design and maintain virtual network simulations.
