Syllabus

  • Office Politics - Overview
    • Before you can navigate office politics effectively, you need to understand what it is and why it exists. You'll learn why avoiding politics entirely is rarely possible and why there is an ethical and positive way to engage with it.

This module focuses on the habits and behaviours that create influence naturally and help you build a strong professional reputation over time.
  • Bosses Playing Politics
    • Managers and senior leaders often operate within complex political environments. In this module, you'll learn how organisational politics affects relationships with bosses and how to work effectively within those dynamics. You'll explore practical ways to support your manager, navigate competing priorities, and avoid becoming caught up in unhelpful political games.

This module explores a range of management styles and shows how to adapt your approach to work successfully with each one. You'll learn how to meet expectations, reduce misunderstandings, and build productive relationships with different types of boss.
  • Colleagues Who Play Politics: What They do and How to Respond
    • Political behaviour isn't limited to managers. Colleagues can sometimes compete for recognition, shift blame, withhold information, or create unnecessary conflict. This module explores common workplace political tactics and provides practical strategies for responding confidently, professionally, and effectively.
  • Members of Your Team Playing Politics
    • When politics emerges within a team, productivity, trust, and morale can suffer. In this module, you'll learn how to recognise unhealthy team behaviours and create an environment where accountability, cooperation, and mutual support can flourish.
  • Borderline Tactics - Political Decisions to be Made About Yourself
    • Sometimes workplace situations are not black and white. In this final module, you'll explore the grey areas of office politics, including difficult conversations, ethical dilemmas, career protection, escalation, and personal boundaries.
