Syllabus

  • Course Introduction
  • Vitamins & Minerals
    • In this module, you’ll explore vitamins and minerals as essential micronutrients that support daily body function without providing energy directly. You’ll learn how vitamins are classified by how they are absorbed and stored, how major and trace minerals support structure and regulation, and why balance matters. This module also introduces Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs) and explains how they can be used to evaluate nutrient intake and support long-term health.
  • Hydration, Supplements, and Food Labels
    • In this module, you’ll explore hydration, dietary supplements, and food labels—three areas that often cause confusion in nutrition. You’ll learn how water supports nearly every system in the body, how supplements differ from whole foods, and when supplementation may or may not be helpful. This module also explains how to read Nutrition Facts and Supplement Facts labels, understand percent daily value, and evaluate marketing claims so you can make informed, practical choices.
  • Behavior Change and Building Sustainable Nutrition Habits
    • Lasting nutrition change rarely comes from knowing more information. Many people already understand basic nutrition principles and some will need these details. What determines success is how well nutrition changes fit into real life, personal readiness, and the ability to adapt over time. This module focuses on understanding behavior, motivation, and habit formation so nutrition becomes sustainable rather than short lived. Nutrition habits are not just the foods someone chooses to eat. They are behaviors shaped by routines, emotions, stress, environment, culture, and past experiences. To change nutrition effectively, it is essential to understand how behavior change actually happens.
  • Nutrition Across Life Stages and Special Populations
    • This module explores how nutrition shifts across life stages and special populations, not to provide rigid rules, but to build understanding. The goal is to help individuals recognize why nutrition guidance varies, how to adjust habits thoughtfully, and when professional support is appropriate. Nutrition becomes safer, more effective, and more sustainable when it respects individual context.
