Lean Production is a proven approach to designing efficient, high-quality, and customer-focused processes. In this course, you will learn the fundamental principles, methods, and tools of Lean Production, with a strong focus on practical application and real-world relevance.
The course introduces the Lean philosophy and its origins in the Toyota Production System, emphasizing value creation from the customer’s perspective. You will learn how to identify waste, distinguish value-adding from non-value-adding activities, and analyze processes using structured Lean thinking.
Building on this foundation, the course covers key Lean concepts such as process flow, takt time, capacity, bottlenecks, and pull systems. You will learn to map and analyze processes, identify the process bottleneck and calculate resource utilization. You will investigate how variability affects systems, resulting in waiting times – even if enough capacity is available – and inventory build-up.
Applicable to production or services, from banking to health care to hotel management to sales and marketing, this course helps you understand the fundamentals of Lean Production for application in any field.

That was the best course on Lean manufacturing and a little bit of six sigma that made me truly understand the mathematic and technical understanding of the process an manufacturing.
thanks for the great course. -
Thank you enrolling me in this short course for me Lean Production Fundamentals focuses on eliminating waste, improving flow, and delivering value efficiently. At its core, Lean is not just a set of tools but a way of thinking about how work should…

This course from Technical University of Munich gives a clear understanding of process analysis and lean operations. It explains concepts like process flow, capacity, bottlenecks, and variability in an easy way using practical examples.
The course also introduces useful tools like Little’s Law and the Kingman equation, which help in analyzing real systems. Overall, it is helpful for understanding how to improve efficiency and reduce waste in processes. -
As someone in the construction industry, I found this course on Lean Production to be highly practical. It focuses on the logic of how to keep a project moving without the usual delays and wasted effort thru TIMWOOD etc.

For someone who wants to learn fundamentals of Lean Production, I think this course is the right one to attend. The language used was very easy to understand. The example given helps students to relate with the content of the course. The test was a bit tough but if we're able to concentrate on what was taught and take note, you should be able to answer all the questions easily.

Really great course for understanding the basics of Lean Production. The lessons were clear and easy to follow, and I liked how the concepts were connected to real process improvement. Topics like bottlenecks, takt time, cycle time, capacity, utilization, and waiting times were explained in a practical way. Overall, it helped me better understand how Lean can be used to reduce waste, improve flow, and make work more efficient. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone interested in operations, project management, or process improvement.

I recently completed the Lean Production Fundamentals course, and it was a valuable learning experience. The course provided a clear understanding of lean principles, waste reduction, process improvement, and continuous improvement practices. The lessons were well-structured, practical, and easy to follow.
This course has strengthened my knowledge of Lean Production and given me practical insights that I look forward to applying in real production environments in the future. I believe it has built a strong foundation for improving productivity, efficiency, and operational performance.
I highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to develop a solid understanding of Lean Production. -
It was a nice quick overview of the fundamentals. I have a Six Sigma Greenbelt and am working on a Six Sigma Blackbelt, and I felt that the information in this course was a helpful review.

Before starting the course, I had minimal knowledge of Lean Production. This course allowed me to organise my knowledge and provided a lot of useful information:
- core principles and philosophy of Lean Production, map process flows, cycle time, takt time, and calculate resource capacity and utilization.
- relationship between three main process metrics, inventory, production rate and process time and their importance with respect to Lean Production.
Professor Ott guided me through all the most important basics in a very clear and approachable manner.
The practice assignments allowed me to deal with situations that might happen in real life. -
great Course! For me this is a well-structured introduction to lean production principles. The queuing theory and variability sections were especially practical, with clear formulas and real-world examples like call centers and service kiosks. The explanations made complex concepts easy to follow, and the exercises reinforced the material well. Highly recommended for anyone looking to understand operations and process improvement fundamentals.

It was pretty fun for me as a person interested in automotive industry. Professor was very clear and detailed on subjects and it was pretty engaging and fun when she talked german once in a while. I didn t understand a single german thing but I really enjoyed it. My advice is for you to take this class.
