Finally, you'll complete the destruction pipeline by generating impact data, simulating secondary debris, and integrating Pyro FX to create convincing smoke, fire, and explosive effects. Syllabus

  • Foundations of Procedural Destruction
    • This module introduces the core SOP-based tools in Houdini for procedural destruction. Learners will explore Break SOP, Clip SOP, Slip SOP, and Boolean operations to fracture geometry effectively. The lessons focus on preparing clean fractured models that can be later simulated with dynamics, ensuring a strong foundation for advanced destruction workflows.
  • Advanced Fracturing Techniques
    • This module dives deeper into advanced fracturing workflows using VDB Boolean, Voronoi fracture, clustering, and fracture points. Learners will gain control over fracture realism by introducing irregular patterns, clustering chunks, and manipulating fracture points for precision.
  • Dynamics with DOP Networks
    • This module introduces the use of Houdini’s DOP Networks for simulating destruction dynamics. Learners will create and optimize DOP networks, work with packed and proxy geometry, and explore advanced solver setups to manage complex simulations.
  • Mastering Constraints for Realism
    • This module focuses on the use of constraints to achieve realistic destruction behaviors. Learners will explore hard and glue constraints, dual glue setups, cone twist constraints, and orientation troubleshooting to build complex destruction systems.
  • Finalizing Destruction with Secondary Effects
    • This module completes the destruction pipeline with secondary and atmospheric effects. Learners will capture impact data, create secondary debris, and add Pyro FX to produce cinematic-quality destruction simulations.
