In this course, you continue building English skills for academic and professional thinking by working with recreation topics and content about famous people. You first use recreation-related vocabulary in context while developing inference skills that help you interpret ideas and meaning from written and spoken content. You practice making inferences through observations and word choice, then use those insights to discuss recreational activities and experiences clearly. You then explore topics related to famous people and public figures, focusing on vocabulary, tone, and purpose. You learn to identify tone in written and visual content and consider how tone connects to purpose, then express ideas and opinions about well-known individuals. Through readings, videos, comprehension checks, skill practice, discussion prompts, synthesis quizzes, and evaluation activities, you strengthen your ability to interpret context, analyze meaning, and communicate ideas clearly.
