This course is primarily aimed at leaders who want to build upon their leadership skills and capabilities in a variety of changing circumstances. This course will help you to develop as a leader to improve the way that you interact with other people, the way that you make decisions and the way that you manage performance and situations change around you. The course introduces you to the six leadership styles of effective leadership and how to adapt them to influence others, lead effectively, work with different types of people, and create an engaging team environment. Become a leader in your workplace by harnessing the power of the six leadership styles:  - Directive - securing immediate compliance - Pace-setting - accomplishing tasks to high standards of quality - Affiliative - creating harmony  - Democratic - getting everyone's commitment and generating ideas - Visionary - providing long term vision and direction - Coaching - long term professional development There is no right or wrong leadership style - the most effective style will vary depending upon the demands of the situation. Effective leaders use these styles in the right measure and at the right time to create a positive, energising work climate for their teams. The course also includes practical strategies for you to consider to increase the use of each style and to tone down the use of each style.  Putting these into practice will help you to be more flexible in your approach as a leader. By completing these practical activities, you will be able to - recognise your preferred leadership style - recognise the leadership style(s) that you are using within your current situation - identify what you need to do to tone down the use of this leadership style at critical times - determine which leadership style you need to increase to have the greatest success - choose the actions and behaviours to develop the use of this leadership style - assess how to become more comfortable using all the styles of leadership for specific work scenarios you’ll face as a leader

Syllabus

  • Conscious Leadership
    • Welcome to "Conscious Leadership"! In this course, you'll learn the six leadership styles of effective leadership and how to adapt them to influence others, lead effectively, work with different types of people, and create an engaging team environment. The first lesson introduces and welcomes you to the course and gives an overview of the learning outcomes of the course. You have the chance to reflect upon your own personal reasons and goals for taking the course. In the second lesson lesson, you'll learn all about the principles of good leadership with the opportunity to assess your mode of leadership.
  • Exploring Leadership Styles
    • This module investigates the six styles of effective leadership. The first lesson covers the advantages and disadvantages of each style and when it is appropriate to use each style. In the next lesson you get to assess the leadership style that you are most comfortable with in your current situation. We then explore the underpinning skills and demonstrated behaviours of each style. In the final lesson, we consider ways that you can fine tune each leadership style by increasing its use or toning it down.
  • Course Review and Assignment
    • No single leadership style is any better or worse than any other. Each style is appropriate and necessary in certain situations but not in others. This module reviews your learning in the course. You get the opportunity to review some case histories to consider around leadership styles by determining which style is going to give you the greatest chance of success.
